Summer “Nicecream” for Mom

Hey Mama – how are you faring in the heat of summer? We know that things can get, you know, sweaty, when you are doing a million things at once during a heat wave. That’s why we are here to change your ice cream game. Yeah, you don’t want to indulge in ice cream on the daily. But “nice cream” is a different story.

What’s that, you ask? Allow me to explain…

“Nice cream,” also known as “nana ice cream” is an icy treat made with bananas. Yup, one ingredient. One WHOLESOME ingredient. The trick is to freeze the banana chunks for at least 24 hours, so they are icy and have an ice cream consistency when blended. The best part? You can add whatever you want to this. Cherry Garcia? Toss in some frozen cherries and dark chocolate chunks. Coffee ice cream? Add a bit of joe to the mix for flavor. The possibilities are endless, and the calories are minimal.

To get you going with a tasty, vanilla base, we have a quick recipe for you.

You will need:

  • 1-2 cups frozen banana chunks
  • 1 tbs vanilla extract

Add ingredients to food processor and blend until smooth. You will need to stop in between and re-stir the banana. Simply take a spatula and make sure all sides are cleared and give it another whirl.

This treat is not only perfect for you, but for the kiddos – especially kids with a dairy-allergy.
