Life can be so hectic especially for moms. Your children are your priority. Sometimes it seems there are not enough hours in the day. Balance is critical for moms as you balance your career, kids, and the demands that come with being a single mom. Stress is also another word representing pressure. Many moms want to know how to handle the stress and pressure that come with motherhood. Therefore, I want to share advice of 3 ways to overcome stress for single moms.

The first way to overcome the stress and demands of being a single mom is to make time for you. When you become a mom, your schedule changes drastically. You eventually start to miss the things you did before you became a mom. You could stay out as late as you’re wanted. You ate with your friends when you wanted and you went where ever you wanted to go. Now that you are a mom, your life is not your own. Your schedule is centered on your child. You barely have enough to sleep and plan anything for yourself before it’s time to tend to their needs again. This is why you must schedule some time for yourself. One way of doing this is using your support system. Find someone who will be willing to watch your child even it’s while you go home and sleep. Support systems are in place for a reason: To help you get the support you need.

The second way to overcome stress is to not feel guilty. Many single parents struggle with guilt because they don’t have a traditional family with a mom, husband, and children. Learn to view your child as a gift and not a burden and your perspective will change. You have to make the best out of your life because things get better. Now is the time to make a life plan and write down your goals and the things you want to accomplish. Next, put together a plan on how to make your dreams happen. Start small and dream big. This will help you focus on the great things about being a mom even if you are single.

The third way to overcome stress is to stay positive. Positive affirmations are ways that can help you focus on the good things that are happening.

Here are a few affirmations:

  • I am positive and strong and healthy
  • I have the best child in the world
  • I love being a parent
  • I will raise my child with unconditional love
  • I am appreciate and valued
  • Today will be a great day

Of course, you can come up with your own affirmations. It helps to say them throughout the day especially when you feel stress. You need a little reminder that stress will pass and you are in control .You have the tools it takes to win and you are a great parents. Lastly, surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you. Make new friends with other moms and schedule a play date. Create balance as your spend time with your child. Do not neglect yourself and focus on the benefits and rewards of being a parent. When stress comes in your life, don’t allow it to stay. Instead, equip yourself with these tools so you can overcome the world and try new things.
