Natural Baby Bites: Carrots for Cuties

We’re back with another tasty treat for your little one. Carrots can be introduced to your baby between 6 and 8 months (of course, you will want to consult with your baby’s pediatrician to make sure!).

Carrots are packed with a ton of nutrients, including beta carotene, vitamin A, vitamin C, and calcium – all an important part of your baby’s diet. That’s why carrots are usually a baby’s first food. To get your baby on board with carrots, here’s a quick and easy recipe.

Recipe

You will need:

  • Carrots (not baby carrots – typically, they are full of chemicals and altered a ton)
  • Water
  • Steamer

To make:

  • Peel carrots, cut into small chunks, and rinse
  • Place carrot chunks in steamer with water
  • Steam until tender, then allow to cool a bit
  • Drain carrots and add to blender – if you need to add more water, use fresh water as opposed to the steamed water (to avoid Nitrates that could have seeped in!)
  • Allow to cool

This puree is simple to make, and is wonderful for your cutie. As my mom always said… “Eat your carrots, they are good for your eyes!”
