Natural Baby Bites: Bananas for Banana

Bananas are the perfect food for your little one! They are an excellent source of nutrients, including potassium and vitamin C.

Bananas can be introduced to your baby around 4-6 months.* Just a forewarning: bananas are known to cause constipation if consumed in large quantities, so be sure to feed your cutie sparingly.

Got it? Perfect – here’s a super easy recipe.

Recipe:

  • Ingredients:
  • 1 banana
  • ¼ avocado

Instructions:

  • Peel and cut banana into cubes, then mash well with a fork (or blend in a processor if you desire a smoother/liquid consistency)
  • Do the same with your ¼ avocado, then blend together

This is a creamy puree for your cutie, and full of great nutrients.

If you are just starting to introduce new foods, start with a simple banana puree and work your way to fancier combos. You may also want to wait a few days before introducing a new puree. Yes, we know you are excited about this, but refrain! It is much easier to pinpoint a reaction to a food when there is only one going in on the time. Over time, he or she will be able to eat more, and may enjoy a chunkier version for a new texture (around 1 year).

*Always speak with your pediatrician about your baby’s diet, of course.
